On Monday, March 8, 2021, after experiencing painful breathing and getting a precautionary chest X-ray, Hannah’s parents were instructed to immediately bring Hannah to the ER. At 13 then, she was perfectly healthy, but presented with a large mediastinal mass on her chest and possible lymphoma. That night their worst fears became reality. After further biopsy and scans, her diagnosis was confirmed on Friday: Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage 4 in the chest, neck, and lungs.
Hannah participated in a 6-month clinical trial regimen of chemo/immunotherapy and is now cancer-free!
Stacy Fleming, the owner of Pure Salon in Denver, recruited me to this cause 13 years ago; this is my 3rd shave with St. Baldrick’s, going back to 2009, and this year I’m shaving in honor of our family friend, Hannah. Hannah’s story has a happy ending and is precisely why we need to fund childhood cancer research.
St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, that lead to groundbreaking treatments, allowing Hannah the chance to fight, and win her battle with cancer. The pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find these life-saving treatments. Help me, to help St. Baldrick's, help all children that are forced to confront this dreadful disease.
Hannah is courageous; she fights and perseveres in the face of challenges...and she does so, with a smile on her face and a positive attitude! For these reasons, she is one of my heroes, and I would like to try to advocate on her behalf, so that we, collectively, might earn the right to be one of hers. Any amount moves the needle.
Every donation matters. Give what you can...if you can. And together, let's end this thing called cancer once and for all...forever!
Feel free to forward this on to anyone and everyone; let's blow this thing up and provide the much-needed resources to win this war.
